Xutao Township belongs to Zhongning County, Zhongwei City, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region. Xutao township was put under the jurisdiction of Zhongning County by Haiyuan County in 2008.

Evolution of organizational system

In August 1949, Haiyuan county was liberated. The county is divided into six districts, Xingren district is located in xingrenpu, which governs Xingren, Xili, xutao, Hongliu and other four townships;

In 1955, xutao district was added.

In October 1958, xutao commune was established. In January 1984, xutao commune was changed into xutao township.

In February 2008, xutao township was assigned to Zhongning county.

In May 2011, xutao Township and shoushoushui Township, according to the adjustment plan, put seven villages including Xinzhuangzi, xialiushui, dataizi, Shangliushui, datanchuan, Tiantan, baiquanzi and a small part of zhoujiagou village in Shoushui Township including sabulatan project area under the jurisdiction of xutao township. It has a total area of 682.47 square kilometers and a total population of 17088 (2017).
