Yaxia market town

Yaxiaji town is located 40 kilometers southwest of Lintao county. It is like a bright pearl of Taohe River shining on the Bank of Taohe River. The clear Taohe river meanders northward from the Bank of the town, flows through seven villages and irrigates 33064 mu of fertile fields. The town has 24 villager committees, 211 communities, a total population of 43120 (2017), and a cultivated area of 63145.8 mu.

History of villages and towns

Yaxia market town has a long history and developed culture. The famous Siwa culture originated here and belongs to the provincial cultural relics protection unit. It lasted more than 200 years. It began in song and Jin Dynasties, and reached its peak in Yuan and Ming Dynasties. The Tusi family of Zhao family in Lintao, which declined in Qing Dynasty, was here. The name of yaxia market town came from the legend of Zhao Tusi family. According to legend, there were three Tongzhi in Zhao's family, namely Datong Zhi, er Tongzhi and San Tongzhi. They built three magnificent yamen one after another. They are now Da Ya Zhuang, Er Ya Zhuang and San Ya Zhuang. At the foot of these three yamen, people spontaneously gather to exchange materials on the first, fourth and seventh day of the lunar calendar, so they are called ya Xiaji.

Development of villages and towns

Yaxiaji town is low in the East and high in the West. The mountains and rivers are equally divided. The 13 villages in the West belong to eryin mountain area. The climate conditions are very suitable for planting more than 20 kinds of Chinese medicinal materials. The 11 villages in the East belong to Chuanping District, with flat terrain, fertile land and different economic development. Piglets are sold to 11 cities and counties around Qinghai, Lanzhou and Lintao. Yaxiaji town has become the leading piglet breeding town in the city. Taohe River is like a silver line connecting the four hydropower stations in the town, becoming a new scenic line on the Taohe river bank and a new growth point of economic development.

Folk customs

It is a unique custom in yaxia market town to celebrate "laza Festival". Every autumn, from the 15th of July to the first day of October in the ancient calendar, there is a "laza Festival" every day in villages. Two days before Lazar Festival, the host will kill chickens and sheep, spread seeds, fry oil cakes, buy good cigarettes and wine, so as to entertain relatives and friends. On the day of Lhasa Festival, relatives and friends from all over the world came to celebrate the festival with big steamed buns or other gifts. The host gave them warm hospitality, and the guests and the host talked while eating. They asked each other about the harvest and economic income of that year, and wished each other good luck. It should be noted that other relatives and friends can bring any gift to celebrate the festival, except the married daughter or son-in-law who comes to celebrate the festival must bring the steamed bun steamed with the new wheat flour harvested in that year for their parents to taste, commonly known as "new wheat flour for Lhasa Festival". Because the "Lazar Festival" day has always been regarded as a good day, so most of the local people choose the "Lazar Festival" day for their children's engagement and marriage.
