Shangchuan Town, belonging to Yongdeng County, Lanzhou City, Gansu Province, is located in the east of Yongdeng County, adjacent to Gaolan County in the East, Qinchuan town in Yongdeng County in the south, Liushu Township in Yongdeng County in the West and Pingcheng town in Yongdeng County in the north. The area is 345.81 square kilometers. In 2018, 34741 people registered residence.

In 1949, it was an ancient mountain area. In 1957, the ancient mountain village was changed. In 2001, the township was replaced by Shangchuan town. In June 2020, Shangchuan town governs 15 administrative villages.

Historical evolution

After the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was the eighth District of Yongdeng County.

In 1949, it was an ancient mountain area.

In 1957, the ancient mountain village was changed.

In 1958, it was transferred to Hongguang commune of Gaolan county.

In 1959, it was transferred to Yongdeng County and Gushan commune was established.

In 1967, it was renamed Dongfeng commune.

In 1971, it was renamed Gushan commune.

In 1981, the ancient mountain village was changed.

In 2001, the township was replaced by Shangchuan town.

In June 2020, Shangchuan town governs 15 administrative villages: huangzitan village, hongjingcao village, shaliangdun village, mannuchi village, dajialiang village, Siquan village, Gulian village, Qilian village, miaolian village, laochitan village, Wulian village, shanggushan village, xiagushan village, Dongchang village and Tianshan Village. The town people's government is stationed in huangzitan village.
