Guta town belongs to Yuyang District, Yulin City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the southeast of Yuyang District, adjacent to Fangta town in Jiaxian County in the East, Qingquan town in the southeast, yuhemao town and Yuhe town in the south, Changcheng road street in the West and Qingyun town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 23.6 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 20 kilometers, with a total area of 240.61 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
It is named after the famous ancient pagoda temple.
Before October 1949, it belonged to Qingquan district and Yuhe District of Yulin County.
In September 1958, Guta commune and yuxingzhuang commune were established.
In May 1961, there were three communes: Guta, yuxingzhuang and yanzhuanggou.
In July 1984, it was changed to Guta and yuxingzhuang.
In October 2011, Guta Township and yuxingzhuang Township were abolished and Guta town was merged.
