Nanyuanmen Street

Nanyuanmen street, belonging to Beilin District, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northwest of Beilin District and the middle of Xi'an city. It is adjacent to baishulin street in Anju Lane in the East, Changan Road Street and zhangjiacun street in moat in the south, Beiyuanmen street in Lianhu District in Sifu street in the west, and Beiyuanmen street in Lianhu District in the east of Xidajie street in the north, with a total area of 1.15 square kilometers.

In the Ming Dynasty, this place was once stationed in the governor's Yamen of Guyuan town. In the Qing Dynasty, the Executive Office of Shaanxi governor's Department was stationed here. Because it was opposite to the governor's department in the north of Gulou, it was called the South court. Later, it was called the South court. Scenic spots in the territory include Xi'an bell tower, Xi'an city wall, Yongning gate, Shuyuan gate, Guanzhong academy, Mausoleum under the tomb of Dong Zhongshu, a famous Confucian in the Western Han Dynasty, Zhang Xueliang residence and Gao Guizi residence, the former site of Zhou Enlai's negotiation with Chiang Kai Shek for a peaceful settlement of the "Xi'an Incident".

In the Ming Dynasty, this place was once stationed in the governor's Yamen of Guyuan town. In the Qing Dynasty, the Executive Office of Shaanxi governor's Department was stationed here. History of construction

In June 1957, nanyuanmen street was set up.

In December 1958, South Street and West Street were merged.

In March 1959, it was divided into South Street and south gate.

In May 1960, it was changed into a commune, belonging to Yanta District.

In July 1962, it was restored to Beilin District.

In November 1966, nanyuanmen commune was renamed Wuxing Street commune.

In April 1972, it was renamed nanyuanmen commune.

In March 1979, nanyuanmen street was restored.

In August 2002, South Street was abolished and merged into nanyuanmen street.

bell tower

"Xi'an Bell Tower" is located in the center of Xi'an, at the intersection of four streets in the Ming city wall. It is the largest and most complete bell tower in China. It was built in the 17th year of Hongwu (1384) of emperor Taizu of the Ming Dynasty. It was first built at the entrance of Guangji street. It is opposite to the drum tower. It was moved in the 10th year of Wanli (1582) of emperor Shenzong of the Ming Dynasty.

The bell tower is built on a square base. It is a brick and wood structure with three eaves and four corners. It is 36 meters high and covers an area of 1377 square meters. On August 6, 1956, the people's Committee of Shaanxi Province announced the bell tower as a provincial cultural relic protection unit. On November 20, 1996, Xi'an bell tower was announced by the State Council as a national key cultural relic protection unit.

Xi'an city wall

"Xi'an city wall", also known as Xi'an Ming city wall, is the largest and most complete ancient city wall in China. It is the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units and national AAAAA tourist attractions.

In a broad sense, Xi'an city wall includes Xi'an Tang city wall and Xi'an Ming city wall, but generally refers to Xi'an Ming City Wall in a narrow sense. On March 4, 1961, Xi'an city wall was announced by the State Council as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units. At the 2018 Northwest China Tourism Marketing Conference and tourism equipment exhibition, Xi'an city wall was shortlisted in the list of "100 wonders of Northwest China".

Yongning gate

"Yongning gate" is the South Gate of Xi'an city wall, located in the west of the middle of the south wall. It was originally the "anmen gate" in the South and east of Chang'an Imperial City in the Sui and Tang Dynasties, and was retained when the new city was rebuilt in the late Tang Dynasty. From the 7th to the 11th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty (1)
