Ge'ao Township

Ge'ao township is located in the northeast of Yudu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province. National Highway 319 passes through the territory, and Meijiang river flows through the territory. The area is 191.51 square kilometers, and the registered residence population is 67 thousand and 900 (2018). It has 23 Village Committees (2019).

In 2018, there were 20 industrial enterprises in ge'ao Township, including 1 industrial enterprise above Designated Size and 34 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

Historical evolution

Named after the residence.

Before liberation, it belonged to Yonghe township of Laicun district.

In the early days of liberation, it belonged to ge'ao township of Quyang district.

In September 1958, ge'ao commune was established, and in November of the same year, it was dissolved and merged into Quyang commune.

In August 1961, ge'ao commune was restored.

In March 1965, it was abolished and merged into Quyang commune again.

In November 1972, Quyang commune was further divided into fenkeng, geao and Quyang communes.

In 1984, it was changed to ge'ao township.

In 2001, Quyang township was abolished and transferred to ge'ao township.

In 1997, 16 village committees including ge'ao, Longtou, chentian, Tangni, Chengjiang, Niujing, Dongcun, Zengzi, yangmeitou, shangnao, Laowu, Xialuo, Yaobei, Xiaozhuang, Datian and shejing were under the jurisdiction of ge'ao township; 9 village committees including Gaoba, Shizao, Longjing, Quyang, Sanxi, Tongxi, Xiaojing, Xiaoyuan and Xiaozhou were under the jurisdiction of Quyang Township, and the township government was under the jurisdiction of ge'aowei.

In 2019, it has 23 Village Committees (ge'ao village committee, Xialuo village committee, Zengzi village committee, shangnao village committee, Yangmei village committee, Chengjiang village committee, chentian village committee, Longtou village committee, Tangni village committee, Niujing village committee, Dongcun village committee, shejing village committee, Laowu village committee, Xiaozhuang village committee, Yaobei village committee, Datian village committee, huangwuqian village committee and Longjing Village Committee) Village committee, Quyang village committee, Sanxi village committee, Tongxi village committee, Xiaozhou Village Committee and Xiaoyuan village committee). Location context

Ge'ao township is located in the northeast of Du county. It is adjacent to Ruilin town of Ruijin City in the East, Laicun town of Ningdu County in the north and Yinkeng town of Yudu County in the south. The township government is located in ge'aowei Town, 54 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 191.51 square kilometers, ranking first in Yudu county.

Ge'ao township has developed five leading industries with comparative advantages, namely navel orange, forest bamboo, pollution-free vegetables, peanuts and live pigs. It is the largest production base of flat radish. The development of animal husbandry is outstanding, with large-scale breeding of live pigs, three yellow chickens and gray geese, which is the largest gray geese trading market in Yudu county. The mining industry and deep processing industry mainly composed of lead-zinc ore have been formed.

History and culture

There is tangni'ao in the north, chigu'ao in the south, and manshan'ao in the West. Between the three depressions, Ge family lived, so it is called ge'ao.

According to records, there were human beings living here in the Tang Dynasty.

At the end of Tang Dynasty, Zeng Wenfu and Liu Jiangdong became masters of geomantic omen by worshiping Yang Jiupin, the founder of geomantic omen.

In Song Dynasty, Wen Tianxiang, a national hero, lived and studied here with his father. After he became the prime minister, he built a square gate in Chengjiang village.

Zhang yaoci, Huang Jingyao and Yang Silu were the generals of the Republic of Ge Ao.
