Xiangmao commune was established in 1972, Yangjing commune was established in 1974, and Xiangmao Township and Yangji (Yangjing) Township were changed in 1983. In 1996, Xiangmao Township had a population of about 24000, with 14 administrative villages including Buluo, gongduo, duopengrega, meiquequn, nonggua, Gongqu, hudado, maguduo, Gegong, chaquka, patang, xuchike, yongduo and kaqiong, and the township government stationed in xiangmaotang; Yangji Township had a population of about 2700, with jurisdiction over xiaru, Kangshi, qiongduo, Zaisha, tise, turu, Puqing, paluku and namache There are 16 administrative villages, including Dongbu, Chacha, moquku, Chunchu, jiangmimab, chalukong and suokuo.
