Bagai Township

Bomi County, Nyingchi City, Tibet Autonomous Region governs the township and seven administrative villages, including TALU village, Wopu village, Barry village, Zhuyu village, xiongji village, Rika village and Longpu village. The township government is located in xiongji village.

It is located in the depth of Yigong Zangbu River Valley in the northwest of Bomi County, Linzhi City, Tibet, 193 km away from the county seat. It belongs to the temperate semi humid plateau climate in Southeast Tibet.

There are the most complete and primitive forests in Bomi County, with a forest coverage rate of 82.7% in 2018.

Bagai township was established in 1989. In 1996, it covers an area of about 206 square kilometers and has a population of 12000. It governs nine administrative villages, namely taru, Wopu, Barry, Xiongjin, Langyu, Muyu, Rika, Yalong and Longpu. The township covers an area of 2101.18 square kilometers. According to incomplete statistics, there are 174 species belonging to 64 genera and 28 families; there are more than 200 species of medicinal plants, ranging from 2400 meters to 3800 meters above sea level. From top to bottom, birch forest, purple birch forest, spruce forest, Rhododendron shrub forest and other forests are distributed step by step. there are the most complete and primitive forests in Bomi County, with the forest coverage rate of 82.7% in 2018.

In 2010, the permanent resident population was 1283 (the sixth census in 2010). the total population is 1370 (2017).

rural economy

In May 2019, standardized farms have been established in five administrative villages of bagai Township, with a government investment of 2.9 million yuan.

Infrastructure construction

Once upon a time, it took three days to walk along the Yigong Zangbu River from Tongmai natural danger to bagai township. The path was steep. before 2009, bagai Township had no roads, remote geographical location and inconvenient transportation. in 2009, roads have been opened in bagai Township, and cross-country jeeps and trucks can drive to the seat of the township government. in 2012, bagai Township had a rough muck Road, basically ending the history of cattle carrying horses. However, landslides and debris flows often occurred in the rainy season, which lasted for six months, blocking the contact with the outside world. on November 17, 2016, the highway from Zhongyu Township, Jiali County, Naqu Prefecture to bagai Township, Bomi County, Linzhi city was connected. The highway is a convenient passage from northern Tibet to Southeast Tibet, with a total length of 28 km and an investment of 240 million yuan. in 2019, the bagai Township section of 303 provincial highway is under construction, and the project runs through the whole bagai Township, which will be connected with asphalt highway after completion.
