Formerly known as the "laga district" built in 1960, it is subordinate to Xueka County, Linzhi district; in 1961, it was abolished and renamed as baiba District, Linzhi County, Lhasa city. In 1988, baiba township was established. In 1996, it covers an area of about 300 square kilometers and has a population of 2000. It has jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages, including lage, gengba, Zhongni, Zade, zamai, qiangga, Zhangba, lianbie, nianglu, shaga, baiba, zengba, zheba, segong, laga, zadui and duilong. In 1990, baiba town health center had one building and three rooms, with a construction area of more than 30 square meters.
