Bianba County of Changdu city in Tibet governs the township and eight village committees, namely, shading village, Dongdi village, ripu village, Reji village, GNI village, songxu village, zhinei village and Tongbi village.

It is located in the west of Changdu city in Tibet, in the north of Bianba County, 40 kilometers away from Bianba county.

Located on both sides of Nujiang Grand Canyon, it has a typical landform of high mountains and valleys with overlapping mountains and ravines.

The total land area of the township is 680 square kilometers.

In 2013, there were more than 3400 people in the township.

It is a semi farming and semi pastoral Township, planting highland barley and wheat, and Grazing Yak, cattle and sheep.

Historical evolution

In 1960, shading township was established, in 1970, the commune was changed, and in 1984, the township was restored.

Located in the northeast of Tibet Autonomous Region, the west of Changdu city and the north of Bianba County, it is 40 km away from Bianba county and more than 400 km away from the urban area of Changdu.

It is located at the south foot of Nyainqentanglha mountain and on both sides of Nujiang Grand Canyon. It is a typical high mountain canyon landform with overlapping mountains and ravines.

There are less than 100 frost free days in a year.

Infrastructure construction

In 2012, 13 of the 16 natural villages in the township were closed to roads.

In August 2013, the construction of songxu village highway in shading township was started.

At the beginning of 2014, the communication base station of songxu village, Shating Township, China Telecom was built and put into operation.

In October 2016, the highway project of songxu village in shading township has been basically completed, and the Nujiang bridge in songxu village is under construction.

On May 20, 2020, the bidding notice for highway construction in Reba natural village, Dongdi village, Shating township was issued, with a total length of 42.67 km.

Medical and health services

In 2012, there was a doctor in shading township health center.

Culture and education

In June 2017, the primary school of shading Township held a Tibetan language basic knowledge competition, in which 18 students participated.

Honorary title

In January 2013, Luo Songjiang village, a doctor of Shating Township Health Center, won the title of "the most beautiful rural doctor".
