Zhongba County, Shigatse City, Tibet Autonomous Region governs towns and four village committees, namely, niekang village, dare village, gangjiu village and luokang village.

Town name

Payang means "broad in the middle" in Tibetan. It is said that King Gesar led the army to fight so far and set up camp in payang, which became King Gesar's horse ranch because of the rich water and grass. Payang got its name from this.
