Gapu Township
Gapu Township belongs to Bailang County, Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region, with an area of 296.54 square kilometers and a population of 2313 (2017).
Gapu Township governs five administrative villages: Punu village, Gapu village, Taye village, Chusong village and Magang village. Gapu Township, Bailang County, Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region. Bailang County governs the township. "Gapu" is Tibetan, which means "Happy Valley". Gapu commune was established in 1968, and the township was changed in 1976. Gapu township is located in the south of the county. The township government is located in Punu village, 52 kilometers away from the county government. It covers an area of 296.54 square kilometers and has a population of 2313 (2017). It has jurisdiction over five village committees, namely Punu, Gapu, makang, Chusong and Taye. It is a semi farming and semi pastoral Township, planting highland barley and wheat, and grazing sheep, goats and yaks. Chusong reservoir, one of the development projects of one river and two rivers, was built in the township. There is Dejiu temple in Gapu Township, which was first built in 1340.
