Jiding town

The town is under the jurisdiction of Sakya County, Shigatse City. Located in the northeast of the county, it is connected with Xietongmen County in the north, Xiongma Township in the south, Razi County in the West and lashiu Township in the East, 91 kilometers away from Sakya town. The average altitude is 3880 meters. In 1962, Jiding district was set up, with jurisdiction over Jiding, Jiangse, Baibai and quding townships.

In 1988, the district was removed to build a township, and in 1999, the township was transformed into a town. It has jurisdiction over 15 village committees, and the town government, the town people's Congress and the town Party committee are stationed in Jiding village. Population 7252 (2017). Jiding town is one of the main grain producing areas in the county with warm and humid climate, abundant heat resources and abundant precipitation. The economy is dominated by agriculture with animal husbandry and sidelines. The cultivated land covers an area of 15129.3 mu, mainly growing highland barley, wheat, buckwheat, rape and pea.
