Emma Village

Aima Township, Nanmulin County, Xigaze City, Tibet Autonomous Region is located in the south of the county, on the East Bank of the confluence of Xiang River and Yarlung Zangbo River. It is bounded by the Yarlung Zangbo River in the south, across the river from Shigatse City, adjacent to Chaer Township in the East, Kazi Township in the West and Dana Township in the north. With an average altitude of 3830 meters, the township covers an area of 378.1 square kilometers and a population of 11710 people (2017). The township government is located in qiarecun, 50 kilometers away from the county seat and 38 kilometers away from Shigatse. The government building area is 630 square meters.

Historical evolution

"Emma" in Tibetan means "Ouch! In such a place. It used to be called yemagang. In January 1962, it was transferred to Nanmulin county from Shigatse and set up amagang district. in 1980, the district office was withdrawn. On the basis of Zhaxi Township, qiaere Township, Shanba Township and Pulu Township under the jurisdiction of the original district, the township was merged to form Emma Township under the direct leadership of the county government. in August 1999, Zidong Township, the former independent Township, was abolished and its area was merged into Aima township. In 2000, Aima Township had 15 villagers' committees in qiareh, longqiong, De, Labu, aying, Deqing, Jiwu, Shanba, xiaga, Youxi, xiamai, lazun, Daxia, nudui and xuenu.

In 1990, Aima township was listed as one of the "one river, two rivers" comprehensive development zones in Tibet Autonomous Region. It is planned to build the development zone into a modern grass and livestock production base and a commodity grain production base. The development zone has jurisdiction over 6 administrative villages, 550 households, 3430 people, 1683 labor forces, and a land area of 14.54 million mu. In February 1994, Nanmulin County formally established the Emma agricultural industry and Trade Development Corporation. The company's resident facilities are located in the government of Emma Township, with 20 employees and a registered capital of 300000 yuan. It mainly manages the water conservancy facilities, farmland, artificial grassland and forestry in the development zone. In 1995, the company generated 560000 yuan of income and 210000 yuan of net profit. In 2005, potato planting area reached 24700 mu, an increase of 8900 Mu over the previous year. Potato production reached 144 million jin, an increase of 54.56 million jin over the previous year. The county sold 101 million jin of potatoes, an increase of 38.6 million jin over the previous year. The total income reached 35 million yuan, an increase of 13.5 million yuan over the previous year. Now, all 28 mu of her family's land is planted with potatoes. Due to the promotion and use of modern agricultural machinery, the potato yield has increased from 6000 Jin / mu to 8000-10000 Jin / mu, and the income is very considerable. Potato planting has become a major industry in the county to help farmers and herdsmen increase their income and become rich. In 2008, the potato planting area of the county reached 37400 mu, accounting for 33% of the total planting area, and the total yield reached 192 million jin. At the same time, the county gave full play to the role of the "potato sales association", the wholesale market of agricultural and livestock products and the specialized sales department in Lhasa, Shannan, Linzhi and other places, and achieved a potato sales revenue of 70 million yuan. On the basis of ensuring the potato planting area of 40000 mu in Nanmulin County, the standardized potato production planting area will be expanded to 10000 mu, and the project cooperation with potato processing plants will be strengthened, so as to improve the added value of potatoes and bring more benefits to farmers and herdsmen.
