Kumo township is under the jurisdiction of Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province. Kumu township was established in 1956 and merged into BOLUO Township in 1958. Kumu township was set up in 1962, changed to commune in 1972, renamed Kumo commune in 1981, and set up Kumo Township in 1984.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province agreed to abolish Kumo Township and put its administrative region under the jurisdiction of Boluo township. BOLUO Township People's government is located at No. 56, group 4, BOLUO village.

Kumo township is located in the northwest of the county, 38 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 62.7 square kilometers and has a population of 4000. It has jurisdiction over six village committees, namely, erbirida, Waku, Shuqing, wazhagu, Tuodu and juemo.

Kumo Township mainly produces potato, buckwheat and oats.
