Historical evolution
Shiya, formerly known as qiubanya, was built in the early years of the Republic of China. It was the hometown of sun Hongzhen, a martyr of the 1911 Revolution. In 1933, the Red Army established a Soviet regime in Shiya. In 1948, Shiya people's commune was established. In 1950, Shiya township was built. 24 April 1953. The county government decided to divide Yulin Township into Shiya Township, Caoyan Township and baichi township. On April 24, 1953, the people's Government of Shiya township was established under the jurisdiction of the Fifth District (yaotan District). In March 1955, the people's Government of Shiya township was put under the jurisdiction of the Sixth District (Kowloon District) office.
