Wumu town is located 9 kilometers east of Dazhu County, Dazhou City, Sichuan Province, covering an area of 44.9 square kilometers. The town governs 6 villages and 64 villager groups with a total population of 16106 (2017), which is a big agricultural town. The territory is rich in mineral resources. It has an annual output of 300000 tons of baozi Mining Co., Ltd., two shale brick plants, and the only thermal power plant in the county - Dazhu thermal power plant. There are 42 cadres, including 503 members of 11 CPC Branches.

On July 24, 2019, Wumu town was selected into the list of national strong agricultural towns in 2019.
