Yuxiu Miao nationality township

Yuxiu Miao nationality township is located 72 kilometers southwest of Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and has a single landform. Most of the areas are about 1000 meters above sea level. It is a pure agricultural minority Township with many mountains, few fields, many forests and few people, good ecological environment and breeding industry.

On August 26, 2019, with the approval of Sichuan Provincial People's government, Yuxiu Miao township was withdrawn and merged into Jiusi town.

Evolution of organizational system

In 1573 A.D. (the first year of Wanli in Ming Dynasty), General Liu tingke named pingman Township after pingjiu silk city. Later Qing Dynasty general Yang Si inscribed the four characters "high mountains and long rivers" on the rock of longjinggou, and engraved them on the rock, meaning "beautiful mountains and rivers, beautiful mountains and rivers, green and beautiful", so it was renamed Yuxiu Township, and the nine boroughs under its jurisdiction. after liberation, the name of Yuxiu was still used. In November 1953, it was divided into Gonghe Township and Yuxiu township. In January 1956, the two townships were merged into Yuxiu township. The three villages of Fuyu, guantian and Xinmin under the former Gonghe Township were assigned to Desheng township (now jiusicheng town), and xiaoyangba township (now jiusicheng New Village) was assigned to Jianwu township (now jiusicheng town). Yuxiu people's commune was established in 1958. In May 1984, Yuxiu Miao township was established. In 1992 and 2006, the administrative division of Xingwen County was adjusted twice, and the original system of Yuxiu Miao Township remained. on August 26, 2019, Yuxiu Miao township was abolished, and its administrative area was under the jurisdiction of Jiusi town.

The forest green area is 100000 mu, including 18000 mu of artificial timber forest and 6000 mu of economic forest dominated by chestnut. The township is rich in limestone and shale gas resources, and has built four shale gas drilling platforms.

Yuxiu Miao village is a mixed ethnic township with Miao and Han nationalities. By the end of 2012, there were 1883 villagers in the township and 6909 registered residence population (2017). Among them, there are 628 Miao households with a population of 2413.

Yuxiu Miao township has Party committee, people's Congress, government, Discipline Inspection Commission and people's Armed Forces Department, with internal organs including party and government office, economic and social development office, rural economic and technical service center, Social Affairs Service Center, family planning technical service station, convenience service center, traffic safety management office, safety supervision station and environmental protection station. After the abolition of Yuxiu Miao Township, the government organs were merged into Jiusi town.
