Xingwang town is located in the south of Peng'an County, known as the "South Gate" of Peng'an. It is 38 km away from Nanchong City in the West and 47 km away from Peng'an County in the northeast. The whole town covers an area of 30.52 square kilometers. It is a shallow hilly terrain with an average altitude of 500 meters. It has a subtropical monsoon humid climate, warm in all seasons, with an annual average temperature of 15.6 ℃ and an annual downward trend of 200 mm. The town governs 16 villages, 1 neighborhood committee, 113 communities, 14736 people (2017), with a total cultivated land area of 12440 Mu and a forest coverage rate of 22%.

On October 29, 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province approved Nanchong to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns (streets) in 7 counties (cities, districts) including Gaoping District
