On October 29, 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province approved Nanchong to adjust the administrative divisions of some towns (streets) in 7 counties (cities, districts) including Gaoping District

Yanxi township is located in the southwest of Jialing district. It originally governed 22 villages including Chenjiaci, zhiganba, sancaigou, shuimoqiao, laojuntang, ranfangwan, Xinglong temple, liufangbei, shanjiaomiao, Kuzhulin, yaowan, renhezhai, taihezui, Longqiao, yangchenggou, yinmingan, Liujiagou, erguangou, mutiwan, Shibangou and Erlongshan, with 203 villager groups, covering an area of 24.89 square kilometers. The agricultural industrial structure has been adjusted to 4:6. Over the past three years, the Party committee and the government have always put structural adjustment in the first place. In terms of industrial layout, they have implemented "adjusting measures to local conditions" instead of one size fits all, respected public opinion, and greatly mobilized the enthusiasm of the masses for structural adjustment. They have promoted "good varieties and good methods", implemented seedling cultivation and plastic film mulching, and standardized cultivation techniques.
