Caijin town is located in the border of Wutongqiao. It belongs to the eighth District of Leshan County in 1953. Caijin township was established in 1956, changed to Hongqi commune in 1958, renamed Caijin commune in 1962, restored to township in 1984 and established in 1992.

On March 25, 2019, Caijin town was awarded "the third batch of provincial forest towns in Sichuan Province".

In July 2020, it was reconfirmed as "National Health township (county) in 2019" by the National Patriotic Health Campaign Committee.

Jurisdiction

There are Fuxing village, Qixian village, piaoer village, Huangdian village, Guandou village, Zhumiao village, Tianlin village, Lizi village, Yongzhen village, Tuanshan village, Zhongxin village, Shihe village, Yanwan village and Yujing village, 14 administrative villages, 94 villager groups, 1 community neighborhood committee and 4 resident groups. The total population of the town is 12938 (2017). Caijin town is adjacent to Guanying town in the East, Bishan Township in Shawan District in the west, Shilin Town in the South and Angu town in Shizhong District in the north.

In 2003, 3000 mu of bamboo forest was developed, including 2000 mu of improved bamboo and 1000 mu of Populus euramericana.

Animal husbandry has developed rapidly, with an annual output of 600000 small poultry, 120 binary Hybrid Pigs, 38000 piglets, and 10 large rabbit farmers, with an annual output of 150000. In 2002, the per capita net income of the whole town reached 2360 yuan.
