Linnong town is located 35 kilometers south by east of Yanting County, bordering Xichong, Nanbu, Fuyi, Yongtai, Sanyuan and Bajiao. （31°14'35.0"N105°35'26.1"E）.

In December 2019, Mianyang Municipal People's government decided to abolish Linnong town.

General situation

Linnong town is located 35 kilometers south by east of Yanting County, bordering Xichong, Nanbu, Fuyi, Yongtai, Sanyuan and Bajiao. The town covers an area of 47.86 square kilometers, with a total population of 13168 (2017), and a cultivated area of 18215.4 mu. The per capita area of agricultural population is 1.1 mu, and the forest coverage rate is 52%. The total output value of industry and agriculture in the town is 24.38 million yuan, including 26.14 million yuan of agricultural output value, 1728 yuan of per capita net income, 924 tons of oil production, 2000 cocoons, 20000 pigs, 260000 poultry, 2300 sheep, 2137 rabbits, and 6.77 million yuan of animal husbandry. In 2001, the town raised 200 catties of mulberry, planted 3000 mu of mulberry and raised 4925 silkworms. All 14 villages were designated as base villages for sericulture development, which made a solid step for the construction of sericulture base town.
