Tangbu town is located in the east of Tengxian County, adjacent to Longwei town of Longwei District in the East, Tengzhou town in the west, Xunjiang River in the north, and Renhe Town of Cangwu County across the river. The town government is located on the side of the secondary highway from Nanning to Wuzhou, 18 km away from the county seat and 28 km away from Wuzhou City. With a total area of 243.57 square kilometers, it has jurisdiction over 16 administrative villages, 143 natural villages, 305 villager groups, and a total population of 56141 (2017). The town has 42000 mu of arable land, including 32500 mu of paddy field, 9500 mu of dry land and 209000 mu of mountain forest.

In 1933, there were five townships in Longcun, Nan'an, Chishui, Lucun and Kailai, which were under the jurisdiction of Lannan district. 31 years (1944), the withdrawal of district and township, the territory set up Nan'an Township, Chishui township. In 1950, it belonged to the second district. In May 1955, it was renamed Chishui district. In January 1958, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged, and Chishui Township and Nan'an Township were re established. In 1969, he was assigned to Lannan commune. In August 1984, it was renamed Nan'an Township and separated from Chishui township. In February 1990, it was changed into a town system, called Nan'an town. On October 1, 1998, the government moved from Nan'an street to tangbu, Daluo village beside Nanwu secondary road. In May 2002, Nan'an town and Chishui Township were abolished and tangbu town was merged. In 2010, it has jurisdiction over two communities of Nan'an street and Futeng, and 16 villagers' committees of Nan'an, Hanchi, Tangcun, Jinban, Gushi, Daluo, Shatin, gupei, Long'an, Yizhou, Kongliang, Shitang, Liufang, Chishui, shangchi and Dayuan.
