Silao town is located in the northeast of Yuncheng district of Yunfu City, 18 km away from Yunfu City in the West and 36 km away from Zhaoqing City in the East. The total area of Silao town is 95.5 square kilometers. It has 14 village committees and 1 neighborhood committee, with a total population of 20784 (2017).

Silao town was established in 1577 (Wanli of Ming Dynasty), Silao fort and Sibao fort in 1740 (Qianlong of Qing Dynasty), changed fort to township in 1926, merged and homesick again in 36, divided into Silao Township and chongkeng Township in 1952, merged into Silao Township in April 1958, merged into Yaogu Township in September of the same year, set up torrent people's commune in October of the same year, and divided into two townships in March of 1961 Silao people's commune was set up, Silao district was set up in 1983, Silao township was set up in October 1986, and Silao town was set up in October 1992. The town government was stationed in silaowei. In April 1996, it was under the jurisdiction of Chengdong District of Yunfu City. In February 1998, it was under the jurisdiction of Yuncheng district. In 2000, it had jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee and 14 village committees. On September 29, 1999, the town government moved to a new office building next to National Highway 324.

Silao Town, Yuncheng district, Yunfu City is 36 km away from Zhaoqing City in the East and 18 km away from Yunfu City in the West. It is located in the northeast of Zhaoqing City and the west of Zhaoqing City. It is adjacent to Baizhu town and Dawan town of Gaoyao City and close to the west of Pearl River Delta economic circle. The main roads connecting the town are Guangwu Expressway (Guangzhou Yunfu section opened to traffic at the end of 2004), county road x429 and National Road 324. In the East, it is 120 km away from Guangzhou city It is 100km West to Wuzhou of Guangxi, 30km south to Xinxing County, 30km north to Xijiang wharf of Zhaoqing, and 8km east to Yaogu freight transfer station of Sanmao railway.

The topography of Silao town is mainly low mountains and hills, with a total area of 95.5 square kilometers, belonging to the south subtropical monsoon region. There are Silao River and chongkeng river. The town is dominated by low mountains and hills with deep soil layer and good air permeability.

In 2013, Silao town successfully introduced more than 20 projects, including China Yunfu international stone industry city with a planned investment of 5 billion yuan and a planned land area of 3000 mu, and Kangli stone with a planned investment of 3.8 billion yuan and a planned land area of 1800 mu, with a total investment of more than 10 billion yuan. The industrial agglomeration effect has initially taken shape. In 2013, the 10th China (Yunfu) International Stone science and technology exhibition will be held in Silao.

In 2013, the total industrial and agricultural output value of the whole town was 1.572 billion yuan, with a 32.66% increase (compared with 2012, the same below), of which the total industrial output value was 1.362 billion yuan, with a 38.98% increase; the total agricultural output value was 210 million yuan, with a 2.44% increase. In agriculture, our town always attaches great importance to the work of agriculture, rural areas and farmers, and strives to promote the rapid growth of farmers' income. In 2013, the town's grain planting area was 20867 mu, with a total output of 7860 tons, of which the rice planting area was 17556 mu, with a total output of 7112 tons; the other grain planting area was 3311 mu, with a total output of 748 tons.

In terms of agriculture, our town should pay close attention to the work of spring ploughing and preparation, strengthen the promotion of improved seed planting, and ensure the smooth completion of the task of early grain production. In 2016, the sown area of early grain in our town was 10040 mu, including 9252 mu of rice and 788 mu of other crops. The total grain output was 3972 tons and 412 kg per mu, including 3808 tons and 396 kg per mu of rice.
