Quxi Street

Quxi street belongs to Jiedong District, Jieyang City, Guangdong Province. It is located on the North Bank of Rongjiang River, the West Bank of fengjiang River and the South Bank of Chetian river. It is close to Niuling mountain in the north and the east of Jieyang City. It is the seat of Jiedong District Committee and government, and the political, economic and cultural center of Jiedong district. Superior location, sea, land and air transportation is convenient and fast. The coastline of Quxi port on the North River of Rongjiang is 8 km long, with import and export cargo loading and unloading points and cargo terminals, and five 5000 ton wharves; National Highway 206, provincial highway 1930 and Shanmei Expressway pass through the north of the city, and Guangmeishan railway has Jiedong passenger and freight station; it is about 16 km away from Jieyang Chaoshan airport, 4.50 km away from Putian entrance of Shanmei expressway, and 9 km away from Jieyang urban area. In 2016, there were 23619 households in the street, with a total population of 95984. The vast majority of them were Han nationality, and some of them were ethnic minorities (mainly foreign married women).

Historical evolution

Quxi street was first built in the Southern Song Dynasty. Because the Chetian River, which originated in Beishan, flows through the territory and spirals. One of the streets is from chehankou, through Yuelong bridge, tongshuigangtan, to quxiwei and into Rongjiang river. It is known as "quququlong leaping water, meandering river and stream". With developed commerce and trade, jinquxi got its name. In July 2006, it was removed from town to street. In July 2011, "tree lamp pole, rising colorful Phoenix" was selected as the national intangible cultural heritage.
