Heyun town

Heyun town is located in the north of Qingxin District, in the middle and lower reaches of Binjiang river. It is adjacent to Feilaixia in Qingcheng in the East, Longjing in the southwest, Jintan Town in the north, Jiulong and Dadong town in Yingde City. The total area is 433.62 square kilometers, including 41336 mu of cultivated land, 38064 mu of garden land and 502689 mu of forest land. With a total population of 183797 (2017), there are 36 villages (communities), including 32 village committees, 572 natural villages and 146 surnames. There are five fairs in the town: Heyun market, Shahe market, Xinzhou market, Bazi market and Yuzui market. The town government is located in Wo Yun Hui. Heyun town has convenient transportation. It is 33 km away from the New District of Qing Dynasty (35 km away from the urban area). There are Qinglian Expressway (107 National Highway) and provincial highway S114 running through the whole town. The main language of daily communication is Qingyuan dialect which is similar to Guangzhou dialect and some Hakka dialect.

Evolution of organizational system

Heyun town was established in 1515. Because two cousins of Sanshui County, zhihefeng and Zheng Yiyun, first moved here, they got the name of "Heyun". Heyun town is located in the 15th District of Qingyuan County. Hongqi commune was established in 1958, renamed Heyu commune in 1959 and Heyun commune in 1961. It was changed into a district in 1984 and established in 1986. In May 2004, the former Shahe Town (including the former Xinzhou town) and Yuba town were merged into Heyun town.

It is located in hilly area, slightly higher in the northeast and lower in the southwest. The altitude is generally about 200-400 meters. The highest is Shahe Tiantang mountain, which is 1089 meters. Binjiang river passes through the town from north to south.

There are many mineral resources and large reserves in the town. The pyrite in Fuluo village of Xinzhou has been mined by the state for more than 40 years. The reserves of Xinzhou gold mine are the second largest in Guangdong Province. In addition, there are rare earth ore, refractory soil, quartz placer, porcelain clay, tin, lead, zinc, sulfur, crystal ore, etc.
