Pengzhai town

Pengzhai Town, subordinate to Heping County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the southeast of Heping County, with a total area of 207.44 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over 27 village committees and 4 neighborhood committees, with a total population of nearly 80000 people (2017). It is not only a central town in Guangdong Province, but also a key town in China. Luomi line and Heyang line, the provincial road, meet in the town and are the transportation fortress and commodity distribution center of Heping lower half county.

In 2015, the total industrial and agricultural output value of pengzhai town was 550 million yuan.

Historical evolution

From the 13th year of Zhengde in Ming Dynasty (1518) to the 2nd year of Guangxu in Qing Dynasty (1876), it belongs to Renyi map (Pengzhen, Cunzhen, Matang, Dongshui, Yangdong, Liangxi, etc.) with four maps in Heping County.

In 1877, the Security Bureau was set up in Heping County, and there were eight sub bureaus, one of which was pengzhai.

At the beginning of the Republic of China, it followed the old system.

In 1918, Heping County was divided into 33 security regiment districts, pengzhai and an'ao each belonging to one district.

In 1928, Heping County set up a public security committee with five District Public Security committees. Pengzhai and an'ao belong to the third district (pengzhai, linzhai, Guzhai, Dongshui and beidun).

In 1931, Heping County established 11 autonomous regions and 2 towns (the security regiment system still existed until February of the Republic of China). Pengzhai belonged to the third district (Gaoshan Township, Liangxi Township, Matang Township, Pengzhen township), and an'ao belonged to the eleventh district (Longxi Township, Shuixi Township, an'ao Township).

In 1937, five Lianxiang offices were set up in Heping County. Pengzhai is the fourth Lianxiang office, which governs Pengzhen, Liangxi, Gaoshan, Matang, beidun, Shicun, Hechun, an'ao and Guzhai.

In September 1941, 36 townships were changed into 24 townships. An'ao belonged to Guzhai Township, while pengzhai was a separate township.

In June 1949, Heping County was divided into four districts, one town and 20 townships. Pengzhai District governs pengzhai Township, beidun Township, Guzhai Township and Liangxi Township, and an'ao is subordinate to beidun township.

In 1952, it belonged to the Fifth District of Heping County (including Liangxi town).

In October 1958, the township was abolished and five people's communes, including Dongshan, Silian, pengzhai, Lidong, Wujiang and Jiulian, were established.

In 1959, Silian people's commune was divided into pengzhai and beidun people's communes.

In 1961, bedun people's commune was divided into bedun, Guzhai and an'ao people's communes.

In 1963, pengzhai people's commune was divided into pengzhai and Liangxi people's communes.

In 1983, the people's commune was changed into a district office.

In 1987, pengzhai was changed into a town, and an'ao was changed into a township.

On April 8, 1994, 10 townships including an'ao were changed into towns.

On June 13, 2003, an'ao town was merged into pengzhai Town, and its name was pengzhai town.

Pengzhai town is located in the southeast of Heping County, 24 kilometers away from the county. In the 1980s, 13 late Neolithic sites and 13 brick chambered tombs from the Southern Dynasties to the Tang Dynasty were discovered on the daqiumian mountain of Duntou village, with hundreds of precious cultural relics unearthed. The ancient dwellings in Duntou village, such as dunhouwei, chongdedi, laowuwei, fengzhengdi, Weilongwu and anzhenju turret, are mainly from the Ming and Qing Dynasties.

There are also liangwugeng sites in pengzhai town.

Dunhouwei

Dunhouwei is located in the center of the central axis of Duntou ancient village. It is the main building of Duntou village. It was built in the middle of Ming Dynasty by Zeng's Mengrong public house. It is the main residence and activity center of Zeng's people. Meiyuan library is in dunhouwei. There are Fengshui pond and thousand mu of fertile land in front of Dunhou enclosed house. The enclosed house has two halls, two horizontal halls and one front yard. It is built with civil bricks and tiles. The stone wall foundation, mud brick wall and base tile are the ridges. In front of the horizontal house, there is a wok ear shaped fire wall. In the middle, there are two upper and lower halls. There is a patio connecting the two halls. There are horizontal houses on both sides. The whole house is 66 meters wide and 44 meters deep, with a total area of more than 2900 square meters.

Meiyuan Library

According to historical records and folklore, the library was built by Zeng Mengrong, the founder of Duntou village in the Ming Dynasty. It is a comprehensive venue integrating traditional textile industry, Academy Teaching and home furnishing. It is a place for local students, common people and students from Jiangxi and Fujian provinces to enlighten, study classic history collections and learn art. There are more than ten generations of Zeng's branch of Confucius' descendants, who were born in Shenggong The accumulation of people in education, textile and farming culture. In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, Zeng Zhuan, Zeng Jiwu, Zeng Guanda, Zeng Xun and other sages taught here, and the library has enjoyed a reputation. During the Qianlong and Jiaqing periods of the Qing Dynasty, Zeng Kechang (character: Dunwu, nickname: Meiyuan) was the bishop of the book house, named "Meiyuan book house", who was Zhenfeng for more than 50 years. After his death, Mr. Meiyuan was praised as "the first scholar in Dongjiang" by Wan Chengfeng, a scholar in Guangdong Province. He personally asked the imperial court for a plaque to praise him. Baoyuan, the magistrate of Longmen County of Guangzhou, presented a plaque: "Ming De Liu Hui", and Zhang Jian presented a plaque: "the fragrance of nine dynasties". Zeng Jiping, Yunnan Minister of Kangxi in the Qing Dynasty, Zeng Zhendeng, Yongzheng Juren, Zeng Guangzu, Jiaqing Juren, Zeng Fengyi, Gutian County Magistrate, Zeng Xiping, Shunde Jiaoyu, Zeng Shengping, Wuchuan xuejiaoyu, Gaozhou Prefecture, Zeng Guangju, Zeng Shuchong, etc. all studied here.
