Waxi town
Waxi Town, subordinate to Zijin County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province, is located in the middle of Zijin County, adjacent to Longwo town in the East, Baokou town in Huidong County in the south, Yirong town and Jiuhe town in the West and Zicheng town in the north. It is 19 kilometers away from Zijin County. The provincial highway S120 runs across the territory along Qiuxiang River, with a total area of 230 square kilometers. In late 2018, the registered residence population in Wa Xi Town was 36911. As of June 2020, the town has one community and 16 administrative villages.
In 2014, the Gross Regional Product of Waxi town was 108 million yuan, an increase of 8%, of which the total industrial output value was 100.8 million yuan, an increase of 13%, the total agricultural output value was 100.1 million yuan, an increase of 7%, and the total output value of the tertiary industry was 03.8 million yuan, an increase of 21%; the tax revenue was 8.3822 million yuan, an increase of 9%, of which the national tax was 3.2298 million yuan, the local tax was 5.10 million yuan, and the deed tax was 52400 yuan; the rural per capita net income was 7728 yuan, an increase of 10.2%.

Before the merger
Ming Dynasty is an ancient capital, and Waxi town is called wenziyue.
The Qing Dynasty retained its organizational system.
During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to Liangyi Township, xiahuangsha Township and shanghuangsha township.
From June 1949 to may 1952, it was under the jurisdiction of Fucheng and Lantang.
In June 1952, it was the Fifth District of Zijin.
In 1958, it belonged to Jiuhe commune.
In 1961, it was separated from Jiuhe and became the Waxi commune.
In 1983, it was changed to Waxi district.
In 1984, it was changed to Waxi township.
In 1992, the township was set up.
In the Qing Dynasty, nine trees were under the jurisdiction of the ancient capital.
After the founding of new China, it belongs to Jiuhe district.
In 1961, Jiuhe separated Jiushu commune.
In 1963, Jiushu commune was withdrawn.
In 1973, Jiushu commune was re established.
In September 1983, it was changed to Jiushu district.
In April 1987, it was changed to Jiushu township.

Nanmu Temple
Nanmu temple, located in Hongtian (Jiaokeng) village, Waxi Town, 42 kilometers south of Zijin County, is located in the mountains. Nanmu temple is built on a huge granite at an altitude of 800 meters. It was first built in the fifth year of Chunxi of Song Dynasty (1178), with a history of more than 800 years. There is a large cave in the temple for the statue of Avalokitesvara. Two pairs of wooden painted gold couplets are hung on both sides of the statue of Avalokitesvara during the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty: "the golden statue encircles the golden dragon, the solemn throne; the stone bell harmonizes the stone drum, the awakening of the masses", "the ancestor of Ciyun Chui temple in Jiuling, the hometown of Ganlu runjiao". On the side of the temple, there is a stone tablet, "rebuilt at noon on the third day of may in the 13th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1887), the nanmu temple was donated by Zhongxin, and the manager Zeng Dianshi.". In 2001, a bronze censer was set up in front of the temple.
Writing tower
Wenbi tower, located in Shanglai, Waxi Town, Zijin County, 8 km away from waxixui Town, is a key cultural relic protection unit in Heyuan City.
Wenbi tower was built in 1636, the ninth year of Chongzhen in Ming Dynasty, and rebuilt in 1862 and 2004. Sit West to East, hexagonal three storey Pavilion style brick tower. The tower is 10.5 meters high, 2.2 meters long on each side, and covers an area of 19.2 square meters. The tower is equipped with wooden stairs, wooden sheds, top of the tower, gray tiles, brick walls, stone footings, external walls plastered with lime, and each layer is built with two layers of green bricks, with water chestnut teeth stacked out of the eaves. There are couplet banners on the three floors of Wenbi tower. From the first floor to the third floor, they are "Wenyun Tiankai", "soaring" and "further up".
Shanglai Wenbi pagoda is the physical proof of the Hakka area's emphasis on culture and education, which has a high reference value for the study of ancient pagodas in Ming Dynasty. In 2005, Wenbi tower was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Zijin County; in March 2011, Wenbi tower was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Heyuan City.
