Tonghu town

Tonghu town is located in the South Bank of the middle reaches of Dongjiang River, in the west of Huicheng District, Huizhou City, Guangdong Province. It is the junction of Boluo County, Dongguan and Huizhou, and Chenjiang sub district office in the East. The town is 28 kilometers away from the center of Huizhou, with a total area of 112.61 square kilometers (in 2017). It has 11 administrative villages and 1 community neighborhood committee, with a total population of 42856 (in 2017), including nearly 10000 immigrants.

General situation

The town is famous for its beautiful mountains, smooth water and land, fertile land and abundant products. It is 66 km from Zhangmutou in Dongguan to Huanggang port in Shenzhen in the south, across the river from Longxi town in Boluo County in the north, and adjacent to Qiaotou town in Dongguan in the West.

Guandong reservoir with a capacity of 65 million cubic meters in the town is a medium-sized reservoir, with more than 10000 mu of vegetation, 41.6 square kilometers of rainfall collection area, 5500 mu of irrigated paddy field and abundant water resources. The town has more than 14370 mu of paddy fields, 20000 mu of high-quality litchi and longan, and 6500 mu of fish ponds. It is rich in grain, fruits and vegetables, aquatic products and other agricultural and sideline products. It is an important agricultural production and breeding base in Huizhou. It is a typical agricultural town, known as the "land of fish and rice".

Economic situation

Since the reform and opening up, the economic and social development of Tonghu has been rapid, and the people's living standard has been improving day by day. In June 2003, the District of Huizhou City was adjusted. Tonghu town was under the jurisdiction of Huicheng District (formerly under the jurisdiction of Huiyang City), and became a part of the downtown area of Huizhou. After the adjustment, the advantages of location, resources and backwardness have become increasingly prominent. In 2004, the town's GDP increased by 20% year-on-year, the total industrial output value increased by 25% year-on-year, and the industrial and commercial tax revenue increased by 32% year-on-year. The infrastructure construction of roads, water supply, power supply and communication network is changing with each passing day; domestic and foreign businessmen are coming in droves, and the industrial development is booming; the development of eco-tourism is in the ascendant; only in 2004, 22 industrial projects were introduced, and the contract utilization fund is nearly 1.5 billion yuan. Tonghu town has very convenient water and land transportation. Ten deep-water berths of less than 1000 tons can be built along the Dongjiang River in Tonghu town. The upper navigation can reach Heyuan and Longchuan, and the lower navigation can reach Shilong and Guangzhou. In terms of land roads, Guangchen and Guangyong highways run through the whole town, connecting with Chenjiang town and Qiaotou town in Dongguan. The villages in the town have access roads, forming a smooth traffic network as a whole.

There are three waterworks with a daily water supply of 150 tons in the town, and the production and living water is sufficient. There is abundant power supply in the town, including one 35kV substation and one 110kV substation. The town has opened more than 4100 program-controlled telephone, opened a broadband network, and has a number of mobile communication stations, communication is developed.
