The origin of town name

Seven women Lake refers to Ruhu town. It is said that seven fairies went down to earth to visit Ru Lake. They lingered and forgot to return. The emperor of heaven sent heaven to capture them. The seven fairies turned into seven lakes. They were called seven women lake and later renamed Ru Lake. Guxian (Village), in Ruhu town. Once upon a time, Zhang Niu and his wife settled down in the old land of ancient immortals. They worked hard and weaved. They were kind and tolerant to people. An ugly young man named "Renshan" came to the door and said that he would like to be his son-in-law. Zhang Niu and his wife accepted him bravely. They did not know that Renshan was a handsome young man in the night of the bridal chamber. They were also kind and hardworking. After Zhang Niu and his wife passed away, their descendants built ancestral temples to commemorate them. Renshan wrote couplets of "ancient tolerance" and "immortal land for thousands of years" Only when he left did people know that he was an immortal, and the word "Renshan" was also immortal. The village was named after the two words "Gu" and "Xian" in the couplets.

Egret Lake

Former site of the seven women Lake Uprising

In 1907, Dr. Sun Yat Sen sent Deng Ziyu, a Huizhou native, back to his hometown to contact the local social parties and cooperate with the Chaozhou social parties to hold the Chaozhou Hui anti Qing uprising at the same time. On the morning of June 2, the Huizhou Hui party killed the animal and sacrificed the flag in the temple. Chen Yachun, leader of the Hui party and a native of Xialiao village in Qinu lake, made an impassioned speech, calling on people to overthrow the Qing government, and read out an address saying: "foreign China, turbulent China. A thousand nations pay tribute, and all nations come to Korea. It's hard to get rid of the hatred of the foreigners. Recruiting troops and horses, stepping on the flower bridge, Muyang uprising and exterminating fanmiao. Military and civilian people, heroes do their best, face the emperor, and turn the Ming Dynasty. " In response, people joined the uprising. From June 5 to 8, the rebels attacked Taimei, Yangcun and Botang, and the Qing army was invincible. Guishan (now Huiyang), BOLUO and Longmen counties responded with great momentum. The rulers of Qing Dynasty were shocked and ordered the officials of Guangdong Province to send soldiers to suppress. The seven women Lake uprising was defeated.

Qinu Huyi is the fourth of ten anti Qing uprisings led by Sun Yat Sen. Although it was defeated, its influence was far-reaching. It educated the people and shaken the foundation of the Qing Dynasty.

Shangmiao temple was demolished in the cultural revolution. The high platform and a large number of ancient building materials of the uprising army's flag worship oath still exist in the old site. In addition, the lower couplet of the woodcut couplet in Song Xiang's handwriting: "beique siliu qinvhu" and the upper couplet "nantianruiqi sanzundi" have been lost.

The former site of the seven women Lake uprising was announced as a cultural relic protection unit of Huizhou Municipal People's Government in July 1996.
