Qiantang town is located in the east of Zhanjiang City and Potou district. It has six village committees, one neighborhood committee and 103 natural villages. The area of the whole town is 48.89 square kilometers (2017), with a population of 38356 (2017), and a cultivated area of 28000 mu, including 13000 mu of paddy field and 15000 mu of dry land.

Qiantang lotus root base was rated as one of the "top ten ecological agriculture demonstration areas" in Zhanjiang City in 2007. Firewood piles and garbage piles in front of and behind the houses of ordinary people have been replaced by newly planted flowers, plants and trees.
