Cangcheng town

Cangcheng town was an ancient county with a history of more than 360 years. It is located in the northwest of Kaiping City, Guangdong Province, with a total area of 128.1 square kilometers (in 2017). It has 12 village committees and one neighborhood committee, with a total population of 31445 (in 2017), and more than 10000 overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan.

evolution

Its original name was cangbu village. It was designated as a county in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties, and was renamed Cangcheng. In Ming Dynasty, it belonged to the capital of Enping County, and later to the capital of Kaiping county. The calendar of 1649-1950 is Kaiping county. It was the first district of Kaiping county from 1912 to 1950, and the Tenth District of Kaiping County in 1952. Cangcheng commune was set up in 1958. It was changed into a district in 1983, and the district was withdrawn to build a town in 1987. In 1996, it covers an area of 132.5 square kilometers and has a population of 29000. The town government is stationed in cangchengxu, which governs 15 administrative districts (administrative villages) and a neighborhood committee, including Daluo village, Lianfeng village, Lianhong village, Liansheng village, Xincun village, Lianxing village, Chengdong village, Wanggang Village, Fucheng village, Xiawan village, Tianxin village, Liantang village, Liuhe village, Loutian village and Tanbi village.

Transportation

The transportation is very convenient. There are east-west and North-South cement highways. A provincial first-class highway runs through the whole town. It is 18 kilometers away from Kaiping City in the East, connecting Guangzhan highway, Xinxing, Yunfu, Zhaoqing and other counties and cities in western Guangdong and Guangxi in the west, connecting Guangzhan highway to Enping in the south, and connecting Zhaoqing to Guangzhou in the north. School culture

County school and Confucian temple are located in Dongmen street, Cangcheng District, Kaiping. Dacheng hall was built in 1669 of the eighth year of the reign of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty. In 1681 of the twentieth year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty, two additional pavilions, Qisheng temple, Minghuan temple, Xiangxian temple, Minglun hall, platform, halberd gate, panchi and Lingxing gate were built. The whole building is of stone and wood structure, suspended on the top of the mountain, with jinliuli tiles, dragon and phoenix patterns on the tiles, square three-layer granite ancient column foundation and stone slab floor, covering an area of 6684 square meters. The county school is located in Dacheng hall. According to the quota set by the Ministry of rites, students of literature and martial arts are selected from the junior high school entrance examination. Students of the county enjoy reading at public expense, and then they are selected to take the imperial examination. In 1905, the county school was closed. During the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, the Academy had undergone one renovation and several individual repairs and decorations. During the period of the Republic of China, after the Lingxing gate was blown down by the wind in 1913, it was changed from stone to brick. In 1929, he was ordered to change Dacheng hall into Confucius Temple. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the Academy was used by Cangcheng grain management office. In 1982, it was listed as the key cultural relics protection unit of Kaiping City. The right side of panchi in the existing school palace has been filled, and the stone arch bridge on the left and in the middle is well preserved; the halberd gate, Minghuan cave and Xiangxian temple are basically kept in their original appearance; the Dacheng hall has been rebuilt, and the East veranda still exists, and some characters of the existing liangkuai steles have been eroded.
