Xiluo town

Xiluo town is located 7 kilometers south of Longshan County in Hunan Province, adjacent to Xinglong sub district office and Maoping Township in the East, Guitang town and Laifeng County in Hubei Province in the west, Zhaoshi town in the South and Min'an sub district office in the north.

Evolution of organizational system

Before liberation, it was Xiluo township. In 1958, it was a suburb commune. In 1961, it was divided into Xiluo commune and Wantang commune. In 1984, it was withdrawn and restored to the township. The residence of the township government was originally named "Xiluo" and later evolved into Xiluo. It is said that during the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty, a new magistrate came to Longshan to take up his post. He passed by the sifangjing of Xiluo, where he saw snails mating. The servants joked. The magistrate said it was a sign of happiness. Since then, the people called the place Xiluo, which evolved into Xiluo in the late Qing Dynasty and Xiluo in the Republic of China. At the end of December 2015, Xiluo Township and Wantang Township were merged into Xiluo town. The newly established Xiluo town governs 24 villages with a total area of 138.69 square kilometers (2017) and a total population of 25638 (2017). The town people's government is stationed in Xiluo (the former Xiluo Township People's Government).

It has jurisdiction over 21 villages including Xiluo, pailou, qingai, Bajiao, Dajing, Hualu, Xiaojing, Lianmeng, Gaozhai, pingzhong, Ouxi, datangkou, Hongshi, Xiaoping, Qinglong, Pojiao, chege, Qibi, Xiaohe, Wantang and Dayuan.

The total area is 138.69 square kilometers (2017). the eastern part is mountainous area with an altitude of more than 1000 meters, and the western part is hilly area with an altitude of 500-600 meters. Yellow soil and red sandy soil are all over the countryside.

Economic overview

Xiluo town has convenient transportation and superior traffic location conditions. National Highway 209 and provincial highway 231 pass through the county. It is an important traffic hub of the county. In addition, there is a second-class highway leading to shadaogou in Hubei Province, which has formed a relatively perfect traffic network. The main income sources of the town include three aspects: migrant workers, agriculture and industry. There are 800 migrant workers per year. Xiluo town is an important Lily planting base in the county, with a planting area of 8324 mu in 2005, and a large number of flue-cured tobacco at a higher altitude, with a planting area of 2205 mu. In the market town, there are five lily processing enterprises. There's ziluo lily Market Street.

History and culture

There are 2-year middle schools and 4 primary schools in Xiluo town. Longgu cave in Ma'anshan, with fossil vertebrates found in 1941, is one of the first wholesale ancient cultures in the state, and has been listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in the state. The TV play "the story of taohuazhai" is located in Dajing village, Xiluo Town, Longshan County.
