Dalan town is located in the southwest of Luxi County, about 37 kilometers away from Baisha Town. It is adjacent to Pushi town in the East, shiliuping Township in the south, yongxingchang Township and Heshui Township in the west, and baiyangxi Township in the north. The "Baisi" highway passes through the town. Dalan town is located in the mountainous area, the terrain tilts from north to south, with an average altitude of about 300 meters. It has a subtropical monsoon humid climate with four distinct seasons and abundant rainfall. The total area of the town is 118.4 square kilometers (2017).

Dalan town is a typical agricultural town with a total cultivated area of 13439.55 mu, including 12090 mu of paddy field, 1349.55 mu of dry land and 126360 mu of forest land. The main crops in the town include rice, rape, Ponkan, flue-cured tobacco, pepper, Camellia oleifera, etc., with an annual sown area of 2747 hectares, including 5603 tons of grain crops, 953 tons of oil crops, 4091 tons of Ponkan, 9408 pigs, an annual agricultural output value of 48.7 million yuan and a per capita net income of 3093 yuan.

Ancient Architectural Buildings

Yanmen ancient fortress in the town has preserved ancient buildings with local ethnic characteristics. It was built in the late Ming Dynasty, covering an area of more than 20000 square meters. It has a history of more than 400 years. It has a complete military defense system. It has great academic value for the study of the history of Ming and Qing Dynasties, war history and ethnic history in Western Hunan. It is known as a model of rural architecture in Western Hunan, even in Southwest China.
