Jiqing town

Jiqing Town, subordinate to Xinhua County, Loudi City, Hunan Province, is located in the north of Xinhua County, 32 kilometers away from Xinhua County, 34 kilometers away from Meicheng Town, Anhua County, 50 kilometers away from Xinhua South Station, and 70 kilometers away from Shaoyang north station. With convenient transportation, xinhua'an (Hua) highway runs through the whole territory, and has the entrance of longlang Expressway (Xinhua North Interchange), which leads to Changsha in the East and Xiangxi in the West.

It covers an area of 182.5 square kilometers (2017) and has a population of 39386 (2017). It has 55 villages and 2 neighborhood committees, including youxiqiao village, Chongshan village, Changpai village, Da'anshan village, Longjing Village and qingdang village.

The famous scenic spots include Youxi river drifting, Meishan ancient village, Youxi ancient bridge, houpiling, Furong peak, Juan Laochong, loach ridge, etc. The town mark is jijiaoyan.

Historical evolution

Before 1949, it was Jihuang township.

It was renamed Jiqing Township in 1950.

In 1958, it was changed into a commune.

In 1984, the township was restored.

In 1995, Jiqing, Chongshan, Chenguang, Huashan and Nanshan townships were merged to build Jiqing town.

In agriculture, rice, sweet potato and wheat are mainly planted, and flue-cured tobacco, peanut and mung bean are produced. Township enterprises have paper, feed, weaving, printing plants and power stations.

In 2013, 29000 mu of rice and 23000 mu of hybrid corn were planted in the town, with a total output of more than 13000 tons. The characteristic agriculture and benefit agriculture maintained strong growth. The watermelon planting base centered on houpiling and Jiqing village reached 3000 mu, with an output value of 200 million yuan; the plum planting base centered on Jinxing community, huoshiwan and Lianfeng reached 15000 mu, with an output value of 60 million yuan; and the characteristic small seed flower based on Chenguang reached more than 5 million yuan. With the rapid growth of labor economy, there are 12000 migrant workers, and the annual labor income exceeds 200 million yuan.

Pueraria lobata

There are 300 mu wild pueraria in houpiling of Jiqing town. Radix puerariae is used as medicine. It has the functions of relieving exterior fever, generating fluid, relieving thirst and diarrhea. It can also improve the symptoms of hypertension patients, such as strong neck, dizziness, headache and tinnitus. The effective components are daidzein, daidzein and puerarin. In the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Zhongjing called Pueraria lobata as an important medicine for Yangming headache. As early as the Eastern Han Dynasty, Zhang Zhongjing, a medical sage, said that Gegen was an important medicine for Yangming headache.

Drifting in Youxi River

Youxi river rafting scenic spot is located in Jiqing Town, Xinhua County, Hunan Province. It is composed of two sub scenic spots: Youxi river rafting and Meishan ancient village. Youxi river is the second largest tributary of Zijiang River in Xinhua, with a total length of 134 Li and 56 li of developed scenic spots. It takes two and a half hours to complete the whole process.

Meishan ancient village

Meishan ancient village scenic spot is located between Chenguang hydropower station and Yanghong hydropower station in Jiqing Town, Xinhua County. The dam has a water storage area of 500000 square meters. The upstream of the drifting scenic spot is famous for Hutiao gorge, Xianren gorge and Jiangjun gorge, with a total length of 48 Li.

Youxi ancient bridge

Youxi ancient bridge, located in youxiqiao village, Jiqing Town, Xinhua County, has a history of more than 260 years. The bridge, 53.3 meters long, 8 meters wide and 22 meters high, is a cultural relic protection unit in Xinhua County.
