It covers an area of 2.8km2 and has a population of 75301 (in 2010). It manages 14 communities including Houde Road, DAHAO Road, yaofuli, Xiaonan, Tianzhushan, nanshai street, hebaotang, Xiaoyi lane, Dongjiao Road, Diaoyutai, Renmin lane, Mapoling, damiaoqian and hongcaitang. The office is located at 87 Houde road. Jurisdiction is a prosperous commercial district, with municipal government, district Party committee and other organs. Scenic spots and historic sites include Ciyun pagoda (also known as relic pagoda), Confucian temple, and stele inscriptions of Yehua Pavilion.

Named after Ganjiang road. On the eve of liberation, it belonged to Ganzhou town of Ganxian county from 1 to 5, 7 to 13. After liberation on August 14, 1949, the town was set up as a city from Gan county. On September 1, 1949, it belonged to the first, second, third and fourth districts. On March 31, 1950, it was divided into the first, second and third districts. On August 1, 1953, it was the first district. Ganjiang road and Heping Road sub district offices were set up on January 27, 1956. They were merged into Ganjiang road sub district office on November 29, 1958 and changed into Ganjiang commune in 1966. It was changed into Ganjiang sub district office on February 10, 1979. In 1997, it covers an area of 3 square kilometers and has a population of 72000.
