Mibei Miao township is located in the southeast of Xinhuang Dong Autonomous County, bordering Luoyan township of Zhijiang Dong Autonomous County in the East, Zhongzhai town in the west, Bilang Township and Lantian town of Tianzhu County in Guizhou Province in the south, and tianleishan forest farm in the East.
General situation of villages and towns
The total area is 73.9 square kilometers, including 9354 mu of cultivated land (7110 mu of paddy field and 2244 mu of dry land), 89613 mu of mountainous area, and 76.5% of forest coverage. The township is located at the end of Miaoling Yumai in Yunnan Guizhou Plateau. It belongs to the middle and low mountain area of metamorphic rocks. The highest peak is Zhangjiajie, with an altitude of 1028 meters. The lowest is skateboard stream, with an altitude of 314 meters, with an average altitude of more than 700 meters. Zhonghe stream, which originates from Zhongzhai Town, runs through the whole territory from west to East, gathering seven streams in the territory, flowing through Biyong of Zhijiang River and into Qingshui River. The township government is located in mibei village, close to Zhonghe River, at the intersection of Hebi, Mibu and Miluo highways, 58 kilometers away from Xinhuang county.
Historical evolution
The township originally belonged to Zhijiang. In December 1956, it was transferred to Xinhuang and established mibei township. In September 1958, mibei people's commune was established. In December of the same year, mibei people's commune was merged into Zhongzhai people's commune. In March 1961, mibei people's commune was restored. In March 1984, mibei people's commune was changed to township. In June of the same year, with the approval of the provincial people's government, mibei township was abolished and mibei Miao township was established. It now governs 16 villages, 143 groups, 2499 households and 9879 people, including mibei, Tantong, Datang, Lianxi, Huanglian, Zuoxi, biliqiao, xuechangpo, tongliangshan, Ajie and zhaojiaxi. Among them, the Miao nationality accounts for 64.5% of the total population, and the Dong nationality accounts for 34.8%.

In 2006, the other 15 villages had built simple roads, with 16 CMB passenger cars and small four-wheel cars, 26 tractors and 200 bicycles. The transportation has been greatly improved. In 2008, tonggong road or cement road will be built in Houcun.

The reserves are about 7.5 ah, and the local grade is high. It belongs to quartz vein primary gold deposit, associated with lead, zinc and silver. It was initially mined in the late Shunzhi period, and operated by the rural people. After 1989, it was returned to the township government for unified operation. the streams in the township are clear and rich in catfish, mandarin fish, giant salamander, snake fish and other rare fish species. There are wild boar, wild goat, jackal, hare, pheasant, golden pheasant and other rare animals around the mountain stream. Grassland resources are particularly rich, with a grass hillside area of 9740 mu. There are many kinds of high-quality forages, which are green and tender in four seasons, which are conducive to the development of herbivores.
Economic situation
The rural economy of mibei Miao nationality township is dominated by agriculture and forestry. In recent years, the whole township has implemented the management methods of Closing Hillsides for afforestation, planning logging system, and piecewise contracting, responsibility to households, which has accelerated the pace of mountain forest restoration and forest product processing. Water conservancy facilities have been improved year by year. One small type I reservoir (mibei Hydropower Station), three small type II reservoirs and six mountain ponds have been built. The main local products are Gastrodia elata, Eucommia ulmoides, lily, chestnut, pipa, sour plum, orange, charcoal, stele, Nanzhu, bamboo basket, etc. The bamboo baskets produced in this village are thin and even, dense and impermeable. They are known as one of the "four wonders" in Xinhuang. The steles in Zuoxi village sell well in neighboring towns. The area bordering Tianlei forest farm is rich in orchids and grasses.
