Mingxikou town is located in the northwest of Yuanling County, bordering Jiemuxi township of Yuanling County in the East, Guzhang County and Yongshun County in the west, Eryou Township in the South and Jiemuxi Township in the north. Yuanfeng and Mingchen highways constitute the two major traffic lifelines of mingxikou town. In May 2005, mingxikou town was reorganized and merged with gaoditou township to form a new town. The town was relocated to the former gaoditou township government.
