History of construction

In 2015, according to the requirements of Hunan Province's administrative division adjustment and reform, the former Yongfeng Township and Rudong township of Li county were combined into one to establish Rudong Town, which was officially listed on December 31, 2015. In history, Rudong and Yongfeng townships also experienced several times of separation and integration: in 1949, the two townships belonged to the seventh jurisdiction of Lixian County; in May 1950, the big townships were removed to build small townships, and the two townships were separated, so they were called Rudong and Yongfeng townships; in January 1958, the county set up four offices, such as Dongxiang and Yongfeng townships, which were under the jurisdiction of yujiatai office; in September 1958, the county established 18 people's communes, and the two townships belonged to Weixing people People's commune; in March 1959, satellite people's commune was renamed Rudong people's commune; in July 1961, the scale of the commune team was reduced, and Yongfeng was separated from Rudong commune to establish Yongfeng Township People's commune; in April 1984, the commune was changed to build Township, and Rudong Township and Yongfeng Township were established respectively. Until 2015, the two townships were combined into one again to establish Rudong town.

Rudong town is located at 111 ° 12 ′ 19 ″ - 112 ° 04 ′ 21 ″ E and 29 ° 16 ′ 0 ″ - 29 ° 57 ′ 30 ″ n. It is located in the transition zone from Wuling mountain to Dongting Lake, with plain and hillock as its main geomorphic features. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast.
