Jiadong town

Jiadong Town, belonging to Lufeng City, Shanwei City, Guangdong Province, is located at the easternmost end of Lufeng City, facing Jiazi town across the sea in the west, Qishi town of Huilai County in the north, South China Sea in the southeast, and a coastline of 22 kilometers long. It is a peninsula surrounded by the sea on three sides. The total area is 75 square kilometers. In late 2018, the population of Jia Dong town registered residence was 101498. As of June 2020, Jiadong town has a total of 1 community and 15 administrative villages.

In 1958, Jiadong commune was established. In 1984, the district was changed. In 1986, the town was built.

History and culture

The origin of place names

It is in the east of Jiazi Town, so it is named.

dialect

Chaoshan dialect (including hailufeng dialect) used to be called "Fulao dialect" or "Heluo dialect" by other dialect areas, but now it is called Chaoshan dialect.

Shanwei Fishing Song

Shanwei Fishing Song is a folk song sung by fishermen in the coastal area of Shanwei City in eastern Guangdong Province. Local fishermen are usually divided into land fishermen and sea fishermen, and sea fishermen are also divided into "tugboat" fishermen and "Ou boat" fishermen. The traditional Shanwei fishing songs refer to the songs sung by Ou boat fishermen. Ou boat fishermen are commonly known as "Danmin", so the fishing songs are also called "dange". They are mainly distributed in Xingang, Jiesheng and Magong in Shanwei City, Houmen and Xiaomo in Haifeng County, Jiadong and Jieshi in Lufeng City. Their origins can be traced back to the dans in song and Yuan Dynasties.

Shell carving

Jiazi shell carving is an excellent folk traditional craft in Shanwei area with a long history. In the early days, Jiazi shell carving used shells as raw materials to make daily necessities and jewelry. Later, on the basis of inheriting the traditional crafts, it extensively absorbed the artistic features of ivory carving, jade carving, wood carving and traditional Chinese painting. Combined with the characteristics of mother of pearl inlay craft, it created three-dimensional shell carving, relief form of shell carving and a variety of practical crafts.

Tiger and lion on stilts

Stilt tiger and lion, also known as "high foot tiger and lion", is a unique folk lion dance art in eastern Guangdong. In the early Qing Dynasty, "Nanzhi" was created by Shaolin monks. It has a history of more than 300 years. Now it is mainly spread in villages near Huilai County of Jieyang City, Chaonan District, Chaoyang District, Puning City of Jieyang City and Jiazi town of Shanwei City of Shantou City.

English song and dance

Yingge is a traditional folk dance in the Sanjia area of Lufeng City, eastern Guangdong Province. Jiazi Yingge and Puning Yingge have the same origin and have a history of more than 300 years, but they have formed their own distinctive characteristics through continuous evolution in the inheritance. Jiaziyingge shows the magnificent dance scene of Liangshanpo heroes attacking Daming mansion in disguise, carrying forward justice, praising tact and expressing heroism. The performance team is made up of 107 people, one less than the 108 heroes in Liangshanpo, divided into front and back. In the front, there are 25 people named "wupan", 12 people named "wenpan", and 2 people named "huagugong" and "huagupo", respectively; in the back, there are performers, bands and flag teams.

Qilin mountain

Qilin mountain is located at the southern end of the peninsula in Jiadong Town, Lufeng City. It is close to the mountain and faces the sea. It has a unique scenery. Qilin mountain has been a military fortress for coastal defense since ancient times. Qilin mountain is the main one, echoed by the four mountains of Xiangdi mountain, Tongtian mountain and Shidi mountain. On the sea, there are jiaziyu, guanyinyu and Xiaoyu, which are only kilometers away from the coast. The three islets and four mountains echo each other, which is a marvelous sight.
