Haozigang town

Dingcheng District of Changde City governs the town. It is located 50 kilometers northeast of the District, adjacent to Lishui and Anxiang County in the East, West Dongting management area in the west, shimeitang town in the South and zhonghekou town in the north. The town is located in the hinterland of Dongting Lake area. It is a typical lake area town with flat terrain, fertile land and rich resources. It mainly produces cotton, rice, rape, pearls and so on. It is a typical "land of fish and rice" with beef cattle, pearls and soft shelled turtle. The town has 7 administrative villages and 5 neighborhood committees with a total population of 36000 and a total area of 54.16 square kilometers. The town is located 50 kilometers northeast of the District, is the north gate of Dingcheng. It is adjacent to Lishui River in the East, Anxiang across the river, state-owned West Dongting farm in the west, shimeitang town in the South and zhonghekou town in the north. In the past, the market town was on the sandbank of the Lishui River, and the Artemisia plants grew on both sides of the branch, so it was named. 1804 provincial road passes through the whole territory. By the end of 2003, there was a 300 ton wharf. It covers an area of 54.67 square kilometers (2017).

Historical evolution

Before 1949, it belonged to Xihu township. Changde county was liberated on July 29, 1949, and Xihu township was set up in August, which is under the jurisdiction of the first district (district site: shimeitang). In November 1951, all towns in the county were renamed after place names, and eight towns including haozigang town and Taiyue town were built. Established in October 1952, it is still under the jurisdiction of the first district (Haozi port). In July 1953, all districts of the county were renamed after place names, and the first district was changed to Haozi port area. In June 1956, the whole county withdrew the district and merged the township, and established haozigang Township and township, which belong to haozigang town. In February 1957, the county set up four offices and three pieces, haozigang township is under the jurisdiction of haozigang office. In July 1957, haozigang town was changed into a county town. In 1958, it was under the jurisdiction of Dongting commune. In 1961, the county's large commune was divided into small communes, with haozigang commune and haozigang town under the jurisdiction of haozigang district. In 1969, the town was changed into a "May 7th" brigade under the jurisdiction of haozigang commune. In 1973, the system of towns in Haozi port area was restored. In 1981, county towns were restored, and the countryside was still called haozigang commune. In 1984, the village was renamed haozigang Township, and haozigang town was set up in the polder. In November 1986, with the approval of the provincial people's government, the original haozigang Township and town were merged to implement the system of town governing village. The town has a long history and many places of interest. According to textual research, this is a market town site of Chu state in the spring and autumn and Warring States period. In 1964, a tombstone engraved with the words "Madame Er pin" was excavated in Taiyue village, along with precious cultural relics such as ancient stone tools and ancient tiles. When the Lishui levee was renovated in the 1970s, a white jade seal used by Yue Fei's son Yue Yun was unearthed and preserved in the Hunan Provincial History Museum. Qian Zhengxue, a class II fighting hero who died bravely in the Vietnam War, was born in this town.
