Wantang Township

Wantang township is located in the northwest of Xinning County, adjacent to Wugang City. It is adjacent to Baisha Town in the East, Jinshi town in the south, Shuimiao town in the West and Wugang City in the north. The total area is 106.55 square kilometers (2017), and the cultivated area is 23284 mu, including 17396 mu of paddy field and 5878 mu of dry soil. According to legend, as early as the spring and autumn and Warring States period, this is a low-lying basin with many thorns, just like a pond. After a fan family came here, they turned the wasteland into fertile land. In memory of him, people named this place "fantang". Because of the homophony of "fan" and "Wan", it evolved into Wantang. Before liberation, it belonged to Jinhu township. At the beginning of liberation, Nanfeng Township, Chizhu Township and Dawan Township were set up. In 1958, it was a super American commune. Wantang commune was established in 1961. In 1995, it merged with baimatian Township and was still named after Wantang.

Industrial Development

In recent years, Wantang's economy has been developing rapidly. In 2003, the GDP of the whole Township reached 148 million yuan. The total agricultural output value is 33.46 million yuan, the total industrial output value is 12.6 million yuan, and the fiscal revenue is 1.48 million yuan. Wantang is the main producing area of navel orange in Xinning County. It is also the main part of Wanli navel orange green corridor. The navel orange is big, thin skinned, golden in color, fragrant / sweet / crisp in one fruit. It is the best-selling navel orange at home and abroad. The annual output is 9 million kg. As white as silver, white wax is well-known in China and has the name of "snow in June". He was highly praised by Premier Zhou Enlai for "the production of white wax in baimatian is well done" and made films.

Infrastructure

Wantang is located in Tan Shao arid corridor, with more drought and less rain. But the domestic water conservancy infrastructure has begun to take shape. The township has 149 large and small water conservancy projects, with a total water storage of 6962000 cubic meters. The three water diversion branches of Malin Grand Canal run through the whole Township, covering an area of 1700 mu. Since 2000, investment in water conservancy facilities has been increased.
