Puji town

Puji town is a town under the jurisdiction of Liuyang City, Changsha City, Hunan Province. It is located in the West District of Liuyang City, Changsha City. There was the Longevity Palace in the town. Xuxun, the God of inspiration and universal aid, was worshipped in the temple, so it was named Puji city. Later, it became Puji city because of homophony.

Puji town is adjacent to chengchong town in the East, Guanqiao town in the west, Liling City in the south, zhentou town and Gejia town in the north. It covers an area of 176.5 square kilometers (2017) and has a total population of 42812 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 9 villages (neighborhood committees) and 94 villager groups (communities).

In October 2019, Puji town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Puji town has 43000 mu of cultivated land, 43000 mu of rice multiple cropping, 5000 mu of flowers and seedlings, and 11000 mu of commercial vegetable base. Puji town is one of the "secondary vegetable bases" in Changsha City, with more than 6551 mu of flue-cured tobacco, which is the largest township in the West District of Liuyang. The development of breeding industry is in the ascendant. Puji town has 260 large farmers with more than 100 heads and 90 large farmers with more than 1000 chickens. In 1998, Puji town was designated as the black goat production base of Liuyang City, with an annual output of more than 20000 black goats. The comprehensive agricultural development projects in Jinjiang, Jinfeng and other villages have been completed, and the modern agricultural production base of "fields in blocks, roads in lines, and canals in networks" has basically taken shape. After dajitou village, Tuanjie village and Putai village have been identified as national rural household biogas construction project villages, and Puji town has built more than 1400 household biogas digesters. Puji town has a good industrial development potential. The main industries are fireworks, chemical industry, textile, shoemaking, bamboo and wood processing. There are 17 fireworks enterprises.

Puji town of Liuyang City was approved to be built in 1993, which is one of the earliest approved towns in Liuyang. Since the end of the Qing Dynasty, the August material exchange meeting of Puji has been well-known in the five provinces of central and southern China. history

Puji town has a long history. The records of Wei Xi, a Chu official, and the Warring States pottery unearthed in Jinfeng Village trace the history of Puji to 2300 years ago. Puji's "August meeting" is very famous. In history, it was famous in seven southern provinces and five northern provinces. When it was prosperous, it once became an important commodity distribution center in central and southern China. It was comparable to the "cattle and horse meeting" in Wenjia City, Nanxiang. There was a saying that "Puji people do not farm, they will eat in August for a year.". Puji has a profound cultural heritage. Huagu opera, shadow play, lion dance, Zhuma lantern and clam shell lantern have enriched the cultural life of the masses. The ancestral home of the famous drama master Ouyang Yuqian is in qinglongtou (Wufeng Village) of Puji town. He is as famous as Mei Lanfang, a famous Peking Opera performing artist, with the saying of "North Meinan Europe". As early as 1922, the Liuxi special branch of the Communist Party of China was established in Puji, which was the first party branch born in Liuyang area. The original Longevity Palace in the area under its jurisdiction is dedicated to Xu Xun, the God of inspiration for universal salvation, so it is named Puji City, and later it is called Puji city.

Puji town is located between 113 ° 21 ′ 25 ″ - 113 ° 31 ′ 03 ″ E and 27 ° 51 ′ 24 ″ - 28 ° 02 ′ 28 ″ n. Puji town belonged to the state of Chu in the Warring States period. In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to Liuyang County. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), it was changed into Puji town in 1922. It was divided into 8 districts in 1950. Jinjiang, Puji and Guanqiao were merged into Puji people's commune in 1958, and divided into three independent communes in 1962. In 1983, it was changed into Puji township. In 1992, the township was removed to build a town. In June 1995, Jinjiang township was abolished as Huxi Village (now Jinjiang community) and merged into Puji town.

On the morning of March 30, 2016, the listing ceremony of three new villages (communities) in Puji town was held, which marked the successful completion of the work.

According to the general requirements of the integration of villages and towns in the adjustment and reform of township division of Liuyang municipal Party committee and municipal government, Puji town should reduce three villages. According to the spirit of the relevant documents of the higher authorities, through a large number of publicity, visits and research in the early stage, the town decided to merge Jinjiang community and Gushi village into Jinjiang community, Xinjie community and Tuanjie village into Xinjie community, and Shuyuan village and Shuangzhou village into Shuyuan new village.

The Party committee and government of the town have appointed the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of the Party branch of the merged new village (community) and set up a temporary working committee.
