Yuchangping town

Yuchangping Town, belonging to Yuelu District, Changsha City, Hunan Province, is connected with Lianhua town in the East, Huaminglou town and xiaduopu town in Ningxiang city in the West and south, and bairuopu town in Wangcheng city in the north. In June 1995, it was formed by merging Jishan Township and Matian Township in the original Wangcheng district.

Yuchangping town has seven villages under its jurisdiction (among them, Matian village and wahui village, quanshuihu village and Hongye village, jijiashan village and panjiashan village have been merged.) , 1 community, 262 villager groups, with a total population of 35978 (2017), a total area of 83.7 square kilometers (2017), and a total cultivated area of 1868 hectares, including 1605 hectares of paddy field, 263 hectares of dry land, and 265 hectares of water surface.

In 2016, yuchangping town achieved a total revenue of 42.2 million yuan.

Yuchangping town is located in Yuelu District, with a total area of 83.7 square kilometers and a population of 35978 (in 2017). It has jurisdiction over seven administrative villages (including Matian village and wahui village, quanshuihu village and Hongye village, jijiashan village and panjiashan village have been merged.) There are 1 community neighborhood committee, 262 villager groups and 1868 hectares of cultivated land. In 2006, the gross domestic product was 261.28 million yuan, the total fiscal revenue was 16.53 million yuan, and the per capita net income of rural residents was 4721 yuan, which won the title of "ten fast villages and towns" in Changsha's economic and social development.

The origin of the name

Yuchangping was a large wasteland before liberation, with a yellow mud road in the middle, which was the only way for the people of Matian and Jishan to go to Ningxiang County. An open shed was built beside the road, where an old man surnamed Feng weaves straw sandals and provides tea for passers-by to drink tea and shelter from the rain. Passers-by often drink tea and buy straw sandals. The old people often don't charge money. After the old man died, the local people called this place in memory of him The rain opened the flat. After liberation, Jingyuan highway and Yujiu highway, which were built in 1958, converged in a "t" shape here. in the early 1960s, two families, surnamed Feng and surnamed Liu, built houses here one after another. In the mid-1960s, supply and marketing cooperatives, grain and oil purchasing and marketing points, warehouses, meat stations and other units were built on both sides of Jingyuan highway, and yuchangping began to become a market town. People all call this place yuchangping, which has become a well-known place name of Matian and Jishan. In 1964, the passenger service from Changsha to santangwan was opened, and the residence of Jishan commune was moved from huibuwan to pengjiadawu next to yuchangping market town. By 1995, yuchangping town had developed into a market town with more than 280 shops and more than ten units. At that time, it was a larger market town in Jishan and Matian. In May 1995, zhe district was merged into Township, and Ma Tian Township and Ji Shan township were merged into a town. There were some controversies when naming them. Some of them should be named Ji Shan town, some of them should be named Ma Tian Town, and some of them should be named Ji Ma Town. Later, according to the location of the town government, yuchangping was named yuchangping town with the approval of the higher authorities.
