Weiguo Township

Weiguo township is under the jurisdiction of Wuchang City. It is located in the middle and north of the city, on the left bank of the lower reaches of faniu river. The township government is 30 kilometers away from the city.

Weiguo township is under the jurisdiction of Tieli city. It is located in the southwest of the city, bounded by Anbang River and Qing'an County in the West. The township government is 20 kilometers away from the city. The name of Weiguo village comes from the name of Weiguo village. Weiguo township is mountainous in the south, hilly in the northeast, flat in the west, and abundant in water and grass along Anbang River and Banjie river.

Historical evolution

In January 1971, six production brigades were set up in the south of the workers' and peasants' commune, which was located in Weiguo village. In May 1984, it was changed to Weiguo township. In 2001, Weiguo township of Tieli city was abolished and merged into Shuangfeng town.

Economic overview

The township covers a total area of 660 square kilometers, with a cultivated area of 65000 mu. It mainly grows rice, coarse cereals, potatoes, sugar beets, and actively develops the cultivation of ginseng, Pingbei and other medicinal materials.

At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 9971, of which Manchu and other ethnic minorities accounted for about 1.6%. The township government is located in Weiguo village.
