Damu Township

Damu Township, Xian'an District, Xianning City, Hubei Province, is located in the southeast of Xian'an District, with a total area of 168.1 square kilometers (2017). It is a low mountain and hilly area. Baiyun Mountain is 695 meters high in the northeast and Damu mountain is 954 meters high in the southeast. The township government is located 20 kilometers away from national highway 107 and Beijing Guangzhou line, and 30 kilometers away from Xian'an city. Xiaoxing line and Hengchang road meet here.

The township governs 26 villages, 233 groups and 2 neighborhood committees, with a population of 31206 (in 2017), including more than 10000 migrant workers. It is a famous migrant town in the region and a key poverty alleviation and development town in Hubei Province. During the agrarian revolution and the Anti Japanese War, Damu was an important revolutionary base in Southeast Hubei.

With an altitude of 511 meters and a radius of 3 kilometers. Although the mountain is not big, it has a high peak and great momentum. There is a stone chamber on the southeast slope of the mountain, called Taohua cave, with a stone platform. The stone chamber is formed naturally and can hold several people, warm in winter and cool in summer. among the peach blossoms outside the cave, there is a stone pier about 3 meters in diameter and high. There is also a clear peach blossom spring at the foot of the mountain. Not far away, there is Xiujing temple. In this desolate mountain, Zhongtai mountain is almost unknown. Du Fu once wrote the fifth of the eight poems of mourning, a gift to Li Gong Yong, a secretary in charge of Jiang Xia. He praised Li Yong's knowledge, character, articles and calligraphy, and lamented his tragic fate of being slandered to death. Li Yong was a famous calligrapher in Tang Dynasty. He was "proficient in calligraphy, especially in cursive writing. He learned the right army's cursive writing for the first time. He got the best of it, got rid of the old habits, and had a new style of writing" (Xuanhe calligraphy manual). His calligraphy is magnificent, majestic, and has a fierce momentum. Li Yong wrote more than 800 pieces of inscriptions before and after, among which Lushan Temple stele and Yunhui General Li sixun stele are the most famous. At that time, Dong Qichang of Ming Dynasty commented: "the right army is like a dragon, the North Sea is like an elephant." It is said that when Li Yong was six or seven years old, Li Shan took him back to Jiangxia, where he lived, and took a fancy to Zhongtai mountain, which is far away from the noisy environment. Therefore, under the guidance of Li Shan, Li Yong began to study hard here for four or five years. "Taiping Huanyu Ji" records: "there is a peach blossom cave on Zhongtai mountain, which is where Li Yong studied, and there is a stone room. There is a stone platform on the top, and there are bells on the platform, sometimes ringing. " "Huguang Wuchang Fu Zhi" also says that Zhongtai mountain "used to have Xiujing temple, among which Li Beihai studied." Although Xiujing temple is not here now, peach blossom cave is still there, reading desk is still there, and the records about Li Yong and his son are still there. When tourists come to Zhongtai mountain, they can not only enjoy the beautiful scenery of Zhongtai mountain, Taohua cave and Taohua spring, but also remind people of the scene of thousands of years ago when there were countless clocks and the sound of books.
