Qiting town belongs to Macheng City, Hubei Province. It is located in the northeast of Hubei Province and the south foot of the middle section of Dabie Mountain at the junction of Hubei, Henan and Anhui provinces. It has a subtropical continental humid monsoon climate. In 1958, Qiting town belonged to Songbu commune and was established in 1987. Qiting town has an area of 87.4 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 27092 (2017).

History of construction

Qiting town is a civilized ancient town with a history of more than 1500 years. According to the records of Macheng county annals, Qiting town is chiting County between Qi and Liang. in the third year of Wude (620 AD), the imperial court set up Tingzhou here, and in the eighth year of Wude, it was merged into Macheng. During the Jiajing period of the Ming Dynasty, there was a peasant uprising here. Luo Dengrui was ordered to suppress the peasant uprising and then stationed in Jiancheng. Qiting town is a famous hometown of immigrants. During the late Ming Dynasty and the early Qing Dynasty, it was one of the immigration centers. in the early Qing Dynasty, the military yamen of eight counties under the jurisdiction of Huangzhou Prefecture was set up in Qiting. Huangzhou Prefecture set up Tongzhi in Qiting, which is called "Er Fu yamen" among the people. In 1669, Jackie Chan took charge of Huangzhou Prefecture Tongzhi and divided it into Qiting. Qiting town in Qing Dynasty was also one of the central post stations in Northeast Hubei. The jute uprising broke out in 1927, Qiting town is one of the sources.
