Yading Township

Yading township is one of the towns under the jurisdiction of dege County, Ganzi Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan Province, China. Before liberation, it was the chieftain territory of Lincong. Yading township was established in 1959, changed to Yading commune in 1974, and restored to Yading Township in 1984.

Dege county is located in the southeastern margin of the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, the Hengduan Mountains, the Shaluli mountains, and the Jinshajiang Valley in the north. The terrain is complex. The highest point is rongmaioza peak, 6168 meters above sea level. The lowest point is the maiquhekou of dingduqiao at the junction of Baiyu County, 2980 meters above sea level. The relative height of the whole county is 3188 meters. The whole county is marked by queer mountain, which divides the whole county into northeast and southwest parts. The northeast is high, with a total area of 7410 square kilometers, wide and flat valleys, fertile soil, and well preserved planation surface, belonging to the hilly plateau landform of Northwest Sichuan; the southwest is low, with a total area of 4545.55 square kilometers, with deep valleys and wide terrain difference, belonging to the Alpine Canyon landform, with more than 30 glaciers and 30 peaks above 5000 meters above sea level. The main rivers are Baqu, Yuqu and other 12 tributaries of Yalong river system, and sequ, maiqu and other 5 tributaries of Jinsha River system. County dry climate, dry air, low temperature, long winter without summer, spring and autumn, annual average rainfall 611.7mm, mostly concentrated in June to September, annual average sunshine 2051 hours, frost free period is 83 days. Yading township is located in the north of the county, 211 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 591.66 square kilometers and has a population of 4086 (2017). Jurisdiction Jirong, Jihei, an re, Gen Da, Zhaqing five village committees. Mainly animal husbandry, yak, sheep, horse and goat. There are rare animals such as white lipped deer, roe deer, white horse chicken and precious medicinal materials such as Cordyceps sinensis and Fritillaria in Yading township.
