Caihua Township, known as "the first town of Chutian tea" and "the town of folk songs", is the largest township in the west of Wufeng Tujia Autonomous County in Yichang city. It is adjacent to the county in the East, Badong in the west, Hefeng in the South and Qingjiang in the north. The government is located 52 kilometers away from the county. Caihua township is a typical old revolutionary base area and Tujia inhabited area. Caihua Township covers an area of 291.35 square kilometers (2017), including 39615 mu of cultivated land.

Historical evolution

Caihua Township, located in the west of Wufeng County, was formerly known as the land of Jingliang barbarians. It belonged to Qianzhong County in the Qin Dynasty and Nanjun County in the later Han Dynasty. The Three Kingdoms first belonged to Shu, then to Wu, and then to Yidu Prefecture in Jin, song and Qi. Liang belongs to Jiangzhou, Western Wei belongs to tuozhou, Northern Zhou belongs to Tingzhou and belongs to Zitian county.
