Lijiazhai town is located in the southernmost part of Shihe District, Xinyang City, Henan Province, bordering on Hubei Province. It has jurisdiction over two neighborhood committees of Laojie and Nanbei street of Jigongshan, and 18 administrative villages of Longquan Temple, Xieqiao, Dawang, Zhongcha, Qigan, huangwan, Laowan, Wanchong, taizifan, Xinjie, Qingshui, Shuikou temple, Yanggang, Wushengguan, Xindian, laomen, Mahe and Nantian. In 1997, with an area of 228 square kilometers and a population of 30000, it has jurisdiction over one neighborhood committee in Laojie and 18 administrative villages in Xieqiao, Dawang, Wanchong, huangwan, nanxindian, Zhongcha, Qigan, Nantian, Laowan, laomen, Mahe, taizifan, Wushengguan, Yanggang, shuikoumiao, Xinjie, longquansi and Qingshui. In 1998, the former Xinyang County was put under the jurisdiction of Shihe district.

As of 2017, the town has an administrative area of 234.5 square kilometers and a permanent population of 32556.
